“If you are reading this, you may wonder, what is a Red Tent, who are these women, and what do they do there?
Red Tent has changed my life in so many ways, mainly it has armed me with an array of best friends and healers. As briefly as I can: We heal, we grow, we learn, we share, we laugh, and we connect.
I was never one of these women who you would see being surrounded by women. Women’s movement, feminism, well… just the words in itself were out of my comfort zone, let alone a bunch of women grouped together. Up until out of desperation to connect with the like-minded, I went to a Red Tent evening gathering in early 2013, this was a meeting that changed me.
The experience penetrated deep into my core, remembering of the past, and seeing how valuable it is to connect with other women for emotional, psychological and physical wellness. This is what women were about since the beginning of the time, holding sacred space for each other, in times of birth & death.
Red Tent is usually at the time of the New Moon.
New Moon represents the end and the beginning of a 28 day Moon cycle. There is no coincidence that menstrual cycles are also, in most cases, about 28 days long. At the time of the new moon, it is ideal to make a fresh start and write to-do lists.
When you come to the Red Tent…
- You can expect to be greeted with a warm welcome. You will most likely be hugged with a bear hug. Because we as humans need touch in order to thrive.
- You will be smudged and/or anointed by sacred smell. DON’T freak out! Cleansing of spaces is not something “New Age” or Hippy or whatever your judgments may be. This is essential for the wellbeing of your personal space, your energy field, as we all are energy. It has been also done since the beginning of time and continues. Every religion has incense and smudging as part of their ritual. You should be inviting it, as it helps you clear and protects.
- You will sit in a sacred circle, which has rules, and it is important that these rules are adhered to.
Rules are:
- Respect. Respecting means that you allow everyone to be themselves without judgement. To speak and to be heard. Restraining from comments or advice unless invited.
- Integrity. Integrity means that sacredness of the space is carried with you. Privacy is of utmost importance. What goes on at the Red Tent stays at the Red Tent. Do not share stories of others!
- You will learn something new. And like me, you will learn that feminism is not a protest, it is a way of consciousness and way of being. Accepting yourself as you are. Loving and nurturing yourself is what feminism is!
- You will heal your wounds. You will sit in a sacred space where you will be heard, your heart will open, and you will be able to unload the burden and invite the healing in.
- You will connect with the like minded females. Maidens, Mothers, Magas & Crones. All women of all ages are invited to Be…
- You will grow from this experience. Being surrounded by women you will recognise the Goddess which is You.
- You will learn a new skill, whether it be how to deal with a situation or how to make a cup of tea, there are plenty of topics that Red Tent brings to the study table.
So, I invite you to test this journey, try this cuppa, get on this train, as Happy You, means Happy All Around you!
With sincerity. Mira”
